- Terms of Service
1. General Liability Waiver and Assumption of Risk
I understand that daycare and boarding involve open play, handling by staff, and interaction with other dogs. Risks include scratches, bites, falls, illness, injury, and damage to property. I voluntarily accept these risks for myself and my dog. To the fullest extent permitted by California law, I release Hang Around Hound (HAH), its owners, employees, and representatives from claims for injury, illness, loss, or property damage arising from including care, supervision, handling, group play, boarding, and transportation. This release does not apply to gross negligence, reckless or intentional conduct, willful injury, fraud, violations of law that cannot legally be waived, or any other liability that California law does not permit a party to release.
2. Behavior and Temperament
I confirm that I have disclosed in my HAH client account any known bite history, prior injury to a person or animal, aggression, resource guarding, escape behavior, anxiety, or other behavior concern that may affect care. All dogs must pass an evaluation before joining group play. If HAH determines that a dog's behavior or needs cannot be safely managed, HAH may separate the dog, remove the dog from group activities, require pickup, decline a booking, or discontinue services.
3. Vaccination and Health
I confirm that my dog meets HAH's current vaccination requirements, including Rabies, DHPP, Bordetella, and any additional requirements communicated by HAH or required by law. I will not bring my dog when they show signs of contagious illness, including vomiting, diarrhea, coughing, or unusual lethargy. HAH may decline admittance or require pickup if a dog appears ill or has parasites.
4. Parasite Prevention
I confirm that my dog is on a veterinarian-recommended parasite prevention program appropriate to their needs, including protection against fleas and ticks and, when recommended by the veterinarian, heartworm. If parasites are found, HAH may isolate the dog, provide bath at my expense, require pickup, or arrange appropriate treatment if needed for the dog's welfare or the safety of other dogs. I am responsible for authorized treatment costs.
5. Communicable Illness Risk
I understand that dogs in group care may be exposed to contagious illnesses, including kennel cough, canine influenza, and intestinal parasites, even when vaccination, screening, and sanitation practices are followed. I accept this risk and release HAH from claims arising from my dog contracting a communicable illness despite HAH's reasonable care.
6. Refusal or Discontinuation of Service
HAH may deny admittance to, separate, or discontinue services for a dog when HAH determines that the dog's health, behavior, or care needs cannot be safely or reasonably accommodated, or when required information or payment is missing.
7. Rates, Invoices, and Payment
I agree to pay for services at the rates in HAH's current rate schedule. A portal estimate reflects the services and rates at the time of the request; changes to requested services may change the total. Payment is due when the invoice is delivered unless another arrangement has been made. If an invoice remains unpaid for three days after delivery, HAH may charge the card on file for the unpaid balance.
8. Credit Card on File
I authorize HAH to keep a valid payment card securely on file and charge it for unpaid invoices, late-pickup charges, cancellation charges disclosed in the current rate schedule, and veterinary or transportation expenses authorized under this agreement. I will keep payment information current.
9. Cancellations
HAH currently allows clients to cancel services at any time without advance notice or a cancellation penalty. If HAH changes this policy, HAH will provide written notice of the new policy on website, and service request forms and its effective date before applying it to a booking.
10. Changes to Policies, Rates, or Services
HAH may update policies, procedures, rates, and services at any time. HAH will provide written notice on website and service request forms. The current rate schedule and policies are available on website.
11. Emergency Contact, Pickup, and Late Pickup
The emergency contact and authorized pickup person in my HAH client account may be contacted or asked to pick up my dog if I am unavailable. I will pick up my dog within operations hours. Late pickup may result in a charge under HAH's current rate schedule. If my dog is not picked up as arranged, HAH may continue care or provide overnight boarding at my expense.
12. Unclaimed or Abandoned Dog
If my dog is not picked up within 14 calendar days after the most recent agreed pickup date, California law may treat the dog as abandoned. HAH will follow applicable legal notice and placement requirements. Charges for care and related expenses may continue to accrue, subject to applicable law.
13. Photo and Media Permission
I grant HAH, its owners, employees, and representatives permission to photograph or video-record my dog while in HAH's care and to use, edit, reproduce, publish, display, and distribute those images or recordings in any format for HAH's website, social media, advertising, educational materials, and other promotional purposes, without compensation. This permission covers my dog only. It does not grant permission to use my name, image, voice, or other identifying information, or to feature a family member, without separate permission. HAH may continue to use images or recordings made during my dog's stay after services end.
14. Veterinary Care Authorization
I authorize HAH, its employees, and representatives to seek veterinary evaluation and care for my dog if my dog becomes ill or injured while in HAH's care. HAH will make reasonable efforts to contact me before non-emergency treatment. My preferred veterinarian in the account will be contacted when practical. If that veterinarian is unavailable or the situation is urgent, I authorize HAH to use an appropriate veterinary clinic.
15. Veterinary Expenses and Account Spending Limit
I accept financial responsibility for veterinary expenses, including examination, diagnostics, treatment, medication, hospitalization, and transportation. Any estimate or spending limit recorded in my HAH client profile guides non-emergency decisions but does not guarantee that a clinic can provide care within that amount. HAH will try to contact me before authorizing non-emergency care above the recorded limit. If no limit is recorded, HAH will try to contact me before authorizing non-emergency care. In an urgent emergency, HAH may authorize care beyond the limit when a veterinarian advises that delay could cause death or serious suffering and HAH cannot reach me in time.
16. Special Care and Medication
I will keep clear written care instructions in my HAH client account and provide labeled medications, food, and supplies needed for my dog's stay. Instructions should include medication name, dose, schedule, and relevant handling or storage directions. HAH is not a veterinary facility, and its staff are not licensed veterinary professionals. Staff will make reasonable efforts to follow instructions but may be unable to administer medication if a dog refuses it, vomits, becomes unsafe to handle, or another circumstance prevents administration. HAH will notify me when a significant care instruction cannot be followed. I accept the risks of side effects, refusal of food or medication, and changes in pre-existing conditions despite HAH's reasonable efforts to follow my instructions.
17. Emergency Treatment and Euthanasia Authorization
For a life-threatening emergency, I authorize HAH to approve treatment recommended by a licensed veterinarian when it is reasonably necessary to stabilize my dog, preserve life, or prevent serious suffering, including anesthesia, surgery, or hospitalization. HAH will make reasonable efforts to contact me or my emergency contact as circumstances permit. If a licensed veterinarian recommends euthanasia as the most humane response to an immediate, severe condition and reasonable efforts to contact me and my emergency contact have failed, HAH may consent on my behalf.
18. Transportation Authorization and Release
I authorize HAH to transport my dog or arrange transportation through a third-party provider when needed for veterinary care or an emergency. Reasonable precautions will be taken, including secure crates or restraints when appropriate. I am responsible for transportation and related veterinary costs.
19. Veterinary Record Release
I authorize a veterinarian treating my dog to share relevant medical records, treatment information, and invoices with HAH. I also authorize HAH to share relevant care instructions and records with the veterinarian to support continuity of care.
20. Client Account Acceptance
I certify that I am at least 18 years old and am the dog's owner or have authority from the owner to arrange services and authorize care. By accepting this agreement through my HAH client account, I agree to these terms for the client and dog(s) listed in that account.
